The Danger of Obesity

Did you know, as per a WHO research in 2017 on obesity, every year, at least 2 million + people die due to obesity. Scary, isn’t it? We get so busy in the daily mundane activities that we do not realise how we move from gaining just a few pounds towards the risk of obesity.

This medical condition, obesity basically refers to a person’s weight that is over the normal. In numeric terms, if one’s body weight is 20% more than the average weight based on BMI, then they fall under the category of being obese – indicated by the medical officials and institutes.

Slowly, this medical condition creeps into one’s physical and mental health condition. Below listed are some of the most common dangers of obesity:

obesity

Heart conditions and strokes

Obese people are prone to Atherosclerosis 10 time more than normal people. This is a serious heart condition where the plaque of the heart can burst if there is a blood clot. This may occur due to the extra fats that build up near the artery walls of the heart (known as plaque in medical terms).

Effect on BP

When your body has extra fat and increased levels of cholesterol, the heart needs to pump blood more than normal, increasing the workload of the heart. The growing rate of pumping blood increased the pressure overall, leading to an increase in blood pressure.

Anxiety and depression

Extra fats make you dull and lousy throughout the day. This takes a toll on your brain activity, which in turn leads to anxiety, which in the long run, may lead to sleep deprivations, and depressions.

The only solution to eliminate the risks of this medical condition is to keep your body weight under stringent check. Regular exercise, proper sleep, and a well-balanced diet are the key ingredients to the solution.
